1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Couponify collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your personal information, and outlines your rights under applicable data-protection laws. It applies to personal information processed through the Couponify website (couponify.us), browser extension, and any application that links to or references this policy. By using Couponify, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. We built Couponify to save you money, and we designed it to collect only what is needed to do that. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please refrain from using our services.
2. What Information We Collect
We may collect and process the following categories of personal information:
- Identity Data — account credentials, username, and third-party sign-in data (e.g., OAuth login from Google).
- Contact Data — such as your email address.
- Referral & Payout Data — your referral code, and (for creators) payout account information you provide in your settings.
- Transaction Data — order information collected when you make purchases while using Couponify, and details about products or services purchased via merchants through Couponify links.
- Technical Data — IP address, cookies, browser type and version, time-zone setting, extension version, operating system, page URLs, and device identifiers.
- Profile Data — your settings, preferences, feedback, and survey responses.
- Usage Data — how you use Couponify's services.
- Marketing & Communications Data — your notification preferences.
3. How We Collect Information
3.1 Information you provide
When you create an account, participate in referrals or the creator program, submit feedback, or contact us, you may provide Identity, Contact, Referral/Payout, Profile, and Marketing data.
3.2 Automated technologies
When you interact with our services, we use cookies, server logs, and similar technologies to automatically collect Technical, Usage, and Transaction data.
3.3 Extension behavior
The Couponify browser extension operates only on supported shopping websites and collects only what is strictly necessary to provide coupon detection, coupon application, and attribution. We do not scan, read, or store the full content of the websites you visit. On supported sites, we mainly process:
- Current page URL — to confirm the site is supported and retrieve applicable coupons and offers.
- Product information (e.g., name, options) — to identify relevant deals or coupons.
- Displayed prices (e.g., checkout total) — to determine whether a coupon was successfully applied and estimate savings.
- Affiliate tracking cookies — only where applicable, to attribute a purchase so commissions and creator payouts are credited correctly.
- Coupon application results — to verify coupon validity and display potential savings.
- Order information (e.g., order status, merchant confirmation) — to verify a purchase completed and ensure accurate attribution.
On unsupported sites, we only check the current URL to determine whether the site is supported; no information is linked to your account, retained, or reused. We do not collect payment card numbers, CVV codes, banking credentials, or payment-tool logins (such as PayPal), nor any government identifiers, documents you view, chat content, or page content unrelated to coupon features.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only where permitted by law — bases include consent, performance of a contract, legal obligations, and legitimate interests — to:
- Create and manage your account, and find, test, and apply coupons;
- Operate our referral ("double coupon") and creator-attribution features, and pay creator earnings;
- Attribute affiliate commissions and referral rewards;
- Send service-related notifications, and marketing only if you have opted in;
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and meet legal and regulatory requirements;
- Analyze and improve our services.
5. How We Share Your Information
5.1 Never sold
We do not, and will not, sell your personal information, and we do not share your browsing activity for third-party advertising.
5.2 Limited sharing
We share personal information only as necessary to provide our services, on a need-to-know basis, and in accordance with data minimization — for example:
- With affiliate networks and merchants, to attribute purchases and pay commissions;
- With service providers (hosting, email delivery, analytics, and infrastructure) under data-processing agreements;
- With creators, limited to aggregated, non-identifying performance data (e.g., installs and sales attributed to their link);
- With regulators or law enforcement as required by law, or with other parties where you have given explicit consent.
6. Information About Minors
Our services are not intended for individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without verifiable parental consent. If we learn we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it. Parents or guardians may contact us to request removal.
7. Cookies
We may use cookies to enable core functionality (such as attribution) and to understand usage. You can adjust or disable cookies through your browser settings. Because browsers implement "Do Not Track" inconsistently, we currently do not respond to Do Not Track signals, but we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required by applicable law.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Withdraw consent — via the unsubscribe link in marketing emails, your account settings, or cookie preferences.
- Know / access — the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold, their sources, the purposes, and the parties we share with.
- Data portability — a copy of your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Erasure — delete your account or request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Opt-out of sale or sharing — although we do not sell your information, you may opt out of any sharing a jurisdiction treats as a "sale."
- Restrict processing and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
- Lodge a complaint — with the FTC, your state privacy authority, or (for EU/UK) your local supervisory authority. We'd appreciate the chance to resolve concerns directly first.
9. Responding to Requests
We make every effort to respond within one month, and typically sooner. To protect your privacy, we may need to verify your identity before processing a request. Contact us at privacy@couponify.us.
10. How We Safeguard Your Information
We implement technical, organizational, and physical measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and authentication, and incident-response procedures. No security system is infallible, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, attribute commissions and payouts, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. When no longer needed, information is deleted or anonymized.
12. Automated Decision-Making
We do not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. We may use automated tools to personalize your experience — for example, recommending coupons based on browsing or purchase history — and you may opt out of certain personalization via your settings or by contacting us.
